Nokia to branch out into... public benches?

Nokia has found, we'll charitably call it a unique way to promote their Nokia Comes With Music service, which allows subscribers in England to listen to any of the 2 million songs in their library anytime on their cell phone.

How did Nokia hijack the new Fall Out Boy video?

That's what Pete Wentz wants to know.

The Fall out Boy bassist fired off a since removed blog post asking that question rhetorically, after an unauthorized version of the band's new music video "I Don't Care" was released on iTunes. While Wentz was simultanesouly editing a version with director Alan Ferguson, this second version featured extended footage, where Wentz isn't even sure came from, of a new Nokia cell phone.

Here's the angry rant:

Cell phone alarm clock programs you, not the other way around

I want a Nokia S60 phone just to take advantage of this application.

HappyWakeUp is an alarm application for Nokia S60 series phones that rather than wakes you up at a specific time, uses the cell phone's build in microphone to listen to your snoring and wake you up when you're in a light sleep, when you'll feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

As opposed to your deep sleeping cycle when you'll wake up either resentful or unresponsive.

The Fourth Wall: Nokia more than a little full of themselves

I get that cell phone ads are almost inherently boring, you either use some annoying slogan like "can you hear me now" or just spout off a bunch of technical specs, no one really understands anyway.

That being said, did Nokia just compare themselves to Martin Luther King? Seriously this two minute ad entitled "The Fourth Wall" tries to be Kubrickian in scope, asserting that Nokia cell phones are the next major evolution in the human race.

Drusilla directs cell phone documentary about Gary Oldman

I guess if your going to make a documentary about Gary Oldman, who's most famous for playing Dracula, the best person to direct it would be another vampire.

Which would explain Juliet Landau, daughter of Martin and Drusilla from Buffy: The Vampire Slayer is making "Take Flight", a 25-minute film about Oldman directing a music video. The clip was for the Jewish Hip Hop group Chutzpah, and is unique in that it was shot entirely on Nokia N93-1 cell phones.

Nokia N95 firmware update here

It looks like the US3G N95 has gotten a nip and tuck a little bit early.

While Nokia had announced that they'd be releasing a new firmware editon of the N95 on the internet in June; they beat their own target and have already debuted the update online. The tune up includes boot up time being truncated from 30 to 19 seconds, camera load time has shrunk to 2 seconds, and a bunch of new games are offered including Midnight Pool, Sudoku, and a collection of N-Gage demos.
