Is Microsoft going to buy the Blackberry brand?

There has been some pure speculation of late that with the stock market being in the free fall that it is, that Microsoft would make a play to buy the Canadian based RIM, the makers of Blackberry handsets. RIM, who's stock is selling at the $60 range at the moment, was fetching $148 a share just four months ago and is probably one of those undervalued companies some billionaire could make a fortune on if they decide to buy it on the cheap.

Steve Ballmer thinks Android is not a threat to Windows Mobile

 

Though I have no idea why. 

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in speaking to BBC declared that the new Google open source mobile OS, Android was not a threat to Windows Mobile because Android is still in version one and not as polished as a product.

Microsoft owns world, Sidekick specifically

While Microsoft continues to play footsie with Yahoo, they've completed a deal to buy Sidekick manufacturer Danger. They paid $500 million... or roughly Bill Gates' lunch money.

Microsoft will continue to employ Danger co-founders Matt Hershenson and Joe Britt, and Danger will continue to be based out of Pal-Alto, California.
