Motorola has just announced July 29th as the date they're releasing the world's first invisible phone - The Motorola CLOAK.
Developed in conjunction with scientists from The University of Tokyo, The CLOAK takes advantage of their optical-camouflage technology, a unique retro-reflective fabric that is covered in thousands and thousands of tiny beads and reflects light back to its original source, creating the illusion that the covered object isn't there.
While the technology does have it's limitations, if not viewed from exact right angle, it just looks like a cell phone in a bag, Motorola CEO Greg Brown is confident there's a significant audience for the Motorola CLOAK:
"While our development department has been lagging behind the competitors for the last couple of years, our market research shows the environment is just right for a mass market novelty phone. We feel for the 15-25 year old demographic The CLOAK is going to be the must have Christmas gift of 2008, and the device that restores Motorola’s handset division to its former glory.”
While Motorola has yet to release any official pictures of The CLOAK, we’ll pass them along; you know… as soon as there’s anything to see.

Greetings
This phone sounds awesome. Can't wait to see it! Oh wait, I mean not see it. But then how would I know its even there.

I'm actually glad that the technology isnt 100% perfect. Im picturing something from the James Bond movie and the Aston Martin almost being invisible. Try finding your cell phone then if you misplaced it in the house or somewhere else!
