Should celebs promote phones we know they're not using?

So back nearly a year ago Audrina Patridge and Lauren Conrad went to the launch party for the Samsung Blackjack 2. It was held at the LA restaurant Beso and hosted by Eva Longoria... don't ask me why about that last part.

Anyway, I just came across these bikini pics of Audrina Patridge using phone that as you can see above, kind of looks like the back of a Samsung Blackjack 2 but isn't; and it just got me to thinking... when we see all these celebrities at premiere parties for low end cell phones, do they even bother giving away the phone to the celebrities?

Like Lauren Conrad might do TV ads for the T-Mobile Sidekick, but we still see her every week on The Hills using her trusty Blackberry. And honestly, who would expect a rich celebrity to use a low end phone targeting middle class 15-year-olds.

It just strikes me as odd that cell phone companies will continue drag celebrities to parties and offer them endorsement deals when they're so publicly seen using competitor's products.
