LG: so what on earth is a wine phone?

Apparently a Wine Phone is just a normal LG Chocolate, coated in a burgundy finish... what no free booze?

Anyway, that explanation did make sense, meaning past tense. See the original Wine Phone that was released in Korea in 2007 was burgundy, but the new version of the Wine series being marketed to the international market is actually black and pink, observe:

The LG KF300 version of the Wine Chocolate phone differs from the Korean version in a couple of respects; there's no 3G and the camera phone is a little better, a 2 mega-pixel camera rather than the 1.3 mega-pixel found on the Korean phone.

Also featured on the LG KF300 Wine phone is 10 MB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, 2.0 Bluetooth, FM radio, and it runs on Tri-Band (GSM/GPRS/ EDGE).

No word yet on the pricing of the LG KF300 Wine phone.
