American Idol: The Paula Abdul Stalker

Well it’s a fresh new season of the Verizon Wireless sponsored American Idol and already the audition process has produced a (rejected) diamond in the rough. But despite Randy and Simon’s assertions, the only way Paul Marturano is crazy, is crazy like a fox.

By spitting some of the clever lines ever on American Idol, Blake Lewis wishes he could write something as clever as the “chalk her” or “Peter Falk-er” lines, Marturano won on the only level American Idol truly matters: promoting the crap out of yourself.

The professional 32-year-old singer/songwriter/pianist just got the kind of national exposure most aspiring singers can only dream about and if you don’t believe it worked try to check out his website here. I couldn’t because the amount of traffic had crashed his server.

I could however access his Myspace page and apparently his sound is heavy on the Elton John/Ben Folds influence. Here he is covering Billy Joel’s Angry Young Man. You can buy his music online, and while it’s not bad; there’s nothing nearly as catchy as his ode to Paula Abdul. Maybe he should just stick to stalker songs.

I didn't see it, but I think he sang backwards?! ;-)
back in the vinyl days these kind of devil-texts would only be discovered years later when a record would be played backwards.... cool, a guy who can sing backwards, applause!
